Concerts in my Lifetime
Just for fun, I've made a list of all of the concerts that I've been to in my lifetime. I shared it with my sister Mary, who thought she could beat my out with a bigger list of her own, and she got almost as many identified, but not quite. She may yet remember some more and beat me.
It was fun thinking back and making up my list. There are some real doozies on this list. I think I am up to forty-two concerts. How may concerts have you been to in your life?

Great listings! I love seeing the various concerts that y'all have been too. I appreciate reading the one liner comments on each. I should have done that as well, but not sure if I can remember details from each!

A friend reminded me that I've been to one (or two?) Jethro Tull concerts (probably at the Garden). I left that off my list because, I guess, I'd completely forgotton!

It sure is amazing how many things we've done in our lives... some of which we've completely forgotten about. Now I know why people keep diaries.

Tom, what about the jazz scene in the 70's? I'm pretty sure we (you, me, and Mark Comden; at least I remember I was there) saw Jean Luc Ponty and Larry Coryell together at the RIT Ice Arena (April 22, 1978).

Weather Report and Rochester's own Chuck Mangione played RIT, too (but I only heard Chuck from outside the gym doors).

Add to your Charlie Daniels Band listing The Winters Brothers Band and Dicky Betts & Great Southern (April 2, 1977). Didn't some of the CDB guys come down into our basement that night?

Remember making a last minute trek to see the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra directed by David Zinman? We sat in the front row, just to the right of the director's podium, close enough to get hit in the face with his sweat as he swung his baton.

I've been to so many memorable concerts, both as a spectator, and as a participating musician. From deep within my brain....

1. Blue Oyster Cult. 1977 Wallace Civic Center, Fitchburg, MA First concert ever. I snuck out of the house and went with Greg Miller and Tom Lemieux. Was introduced to marijuana this evening.

2. Supertramp, The Music Hall, Boston, MA with John Kearney, Patty Kearney, and Kim Holman.
I discovered rock music could be ethereal. Haven't been the same since.

2a. The Police and The Fleshtones. November 28, 1980. Wow. Incredible show.

3. U-2 March 16, 1981. Bowker Auditorium, UMass, Amherst, MA. Talked to Bono and Larry after the show, behind the building. Bono gave us some Heinekens. One of the girls we were with called him 'Bozo'. He laughed at that.

3a. U-2 May 6, 1983. Orpheum Theater. One of this evenings songs, '11 O'Clock Tick Tock', appears on the album, 'Under a Blood Red Sky'.

4. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. The Centrum, Worcester, MA Summer 1984

5. The Replacements, The Rat, Kenmore Suqare, Boston. 1984 ?
The band were wearing womens clothing.

6. The Fleshtones-The Lyres-The Prime Movers. The Channel, South Boston, MA . September 11, 1983. Probably the wildest gig I have ever witnessed at a club. Complete debauchery. The Fleshtones borrowed my 1966 Vox Continental organ after we played, because theres wasn't working.

7. The Jam, The Channel. July 1982. Insane show.

8. James Brown, The Channel. Dec. 1986. My date broke up with me a week later. Recerntly, I heard she had just divorced her third husband.

9. The Cult and 'Bonham'. Boston Garden, 1991. Loud.

10. Donovan. Several times at different venues. Very groovy.

11. Echo and the Bunnymen with 'The Teardrop Explodes'. The Paradise, Boston. 1984. Words can't decribe.

12. The Church, with Peter Murphy. Aug. 1988 Orpheum Theater, Boston. Cyndy fell asleep because of a long flight from California, then we went straight to this show. Peter Murphy sucked, The Church were pretty good.

Recent shows:

Hole , Orpheum Theater, 1999. Courtney Love sucked this night. She was drunk and insulting the audience.

Santana with Jeff Beck as the opening act. 1998, Great Woods, Mansfield, MA

The Who July 3, 1999 Great Woods

Pearl Jam 2000 Great Woods

Allman Brothers 2000

Roger Waters, 2000 ? Great Woods. in Quadrophonic Sound.
